Tigerair has launched flights between Singapore
and Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, China.
Tigerair will operate the routre three times weekly
every Tuesday, Thursday and
Sunday with Airbus A320 aircraft.
“The new Zhengzhou service is part of our
commitment to offer new and eye-opening travel possibilities for
customers, providing a convenient direct air link for them to
embark on a historical tour of the ancient capitals within Henan,”
said Mr Leslie Thng, Chief Commercial Officer for Tigerair and
Scoot. “Visitors from China may also connect via Singapore to
other exciting cities on Tigerair’s network, and onward to the
many destinations offered by our sister airline Scoot, as well
Singapore Airlines and SilkAir under the SIA Group.”
Zhengzhou has a robust manufacturing industry
and is being developed into a significant financial centre in
China. Its Zhengdong New District, for example, is fast developing
into a major hub for business headquarters, financial services as
well as conferences and exhibitions.
For tourists, Zhengzhou is a choice gateway to
the cities of Kaifeng, Luoyang and Anyang - which like Zhengzhou,
date back to the ancient Chinese dynasties. Culture and history
lovers will be in for a treat with the abundance of UNESCO World
Heritage Sites such as Zhengzhou’s famed Shaolin Temple and Pagoda
Forest, Luoyang’s Longmen Grottoes, and the ruins of Yinxu in
Anyang. Travellers may also go on to Xi’an, renowned for the
Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, where Tigerair operates
direct flights back to Singapore.
In addition, Zhengzhou is located at the
intersection of a comprehensive network of high-speed rail lines
connected to major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai and
Guangzhou, making it an ideal city for travellers to access other
areas in China.
