American Airlines is reinforcing its commitment
to the Carolinas by renewing its sponsorship as the Official
Airline of Carolina Panthers with a long-term agreement.
American, through its merger with US
Airways, has been the Official Airline of the Panthers since 2006.
“With more than 11,000 employees based in
Charlotte and more than 44 million customers at Charlotte Douglas
International Airport (CLT) each year, American is proud to
partner with one of the most exciting teams in the NFL,” said
Fernand Fernandez, American’s vice president of global marketing.
“Panthers fans are passionate about their team and excited about
what the future holds with Coach Ron Rivera, Cam Newton and the
entire Conference Championship team. They have raised the profile
of the Carolinas, and American is raising the bar for the travel
experience by investing more than $3 billion in new products and
services.”
As the Official Airline of the Panthers, the
American Airlines logo will continue to appear at Bank of America
Stadium and the airline will be featured in in-game promotions at
each Panthers home game.
The partnership also includes several
community events, including the sponsorship of the Panthers’
quarterly veterans coffee event, which welcomes
military veterans for a networking and development “coffee break”
at the stadium.
“We appreciate the long-term support of American
Airlines as the Official Airline of the Carolina Panthers. They
are an important part of our away game travel and also an
important member of our team. We look forward to this season with
American Airlines as we both strive to new heights together,” said
team President Danny Morrison.
American operates more than 90 percent of
flights out of CLT, with more than 650 daily flights to 145
destinations in 23 countries. American also operates two
maintenance hangars, a pilot training facility and a cargo
facility in Charlotte.
