Despite its smartphones not being widely
available in Europe or the U.S., Xiaomi decided
to unveil its new flagship at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in
Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday.
The Mi5 is available in three varieties,
all of which feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The
processor in the
32GB model is 1.8GHz, while the 64GB and the Pro version, which
has a whopping 128GB of internal memory, is 2.15GHz.
Another important difference between the three
versions is that the 32GB
and 64GB models have 3GB of RAM, while the Pro 128GB version has
4GB.
The 32 and 64GB versions have a 3D glass back
cover, while the Pro 128GB version has a 3D ceramic back cover.
All three feature an attractive, almost
bezel-free, 5.15-inch 1080p display,
weigh just 129g, and will ship with a 3,000mAh battery that supports
Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast-charging technology.
The 16MP rear camera on the three versions of
the Xiaomi Mi5 is not only flush with the back cover, but also
uses a Sony IMX298 sensor featuring 4-axis OIS, PDAF, DTI tech and
can take 4K videos. At the front is a 2um 4MP camera.
The Xiaomi Mi5, which is expected to be released
in select markets mainly within Asia Pacific next month, will be available in black, white
and gold.
The RRP of the 32GB version is RMB1,999,
the 64GB RMB 2,299 and the Pro 128GB version is RMB
2,999.
