Six Senses is to expand its portfolio
of luxury retreats to
the island of Fiji.
Fiji, a small archipelago in the South
Pacific, is comprised of 332 islands and nearly one million
inhabitants spread throughout the major islands of Viti Levu and
Vanua Levu.
Approximately one third of the islands are
uninhabited, ranging in size from 3,800 square miles (10,000
square kilometers) to tiny islands or spits of sand a few hundred
meters in circumference.
Fiji is known for its idyllic
crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, thick tropical forests, excellent climate
and, despite the small population, for being home to some of the
best
rugby sevens players in the world.
Six Senses Fiji will be located on a
beach on Fijis Malolo Island.
The luxury resort will feature
24 pool villas ranging in size from 800 square feet (74
square meters) to 1,950 square feet (180 square meters) and 66
residential villas situated on the west side of the island. The
resort is located along a private sandy beach that stretches 2,100
feet (650 meters).
The property will include a restaurant
and bar plus a wine cellar and tasting table. Locally inspired and
sustainably sourced, the resorts cuisine will feature ingredients
gathered from the resort garden, local farmers, markets and
fishermen.
The facility will also include a Six Senses Spa, a gym, club
house and kids club. Activities on offer will include boating,
sailing, diving, snorkeling and tennis.
A full-service
marina is located adjacent to the resort and will be available for
private yachts.
The resort will be 100%
solar powered and the first microgrid in Fiji to use Tesla
batteries. In addition, a worm-based septic system is planned as
well as water reservoirs for grey and rainwater which avoids the
need for a desalination plant. The project includes tree
reforestation on site to offset wood used in construction. The
resort will feature all LED lights to ensure the highest levels in
LED efficiency.
Six Senses Fiji is slated to open late
2017. Access is available from Nadi International Airport, a
30-minute journey by boat from Denaadaru Marina, 30-minute
helicopter flight or 20-minute seaplane flight.
