Great Place to
Work, a research and consulting firm, has named Sabre one of India’s 50 Best Companies to Work for in IT
and ITes, 2016.
Sabre was selected based on the annual Trust
Index Great Place to Work’s employee assessment survey of IT and ITeS organizations across the country.
The survey measures
companies on a multitude of factors including employee engagement,
trust, work-life balance, career development, and rewards and
recognition.
“Working at an organization that creates
innovative solutions and has a flexible and friendly work
environment is what many passionate technologists are looking for
in the ‘Silicon Valley’ of India – Bangalore, a hub for start-ups
and technology companies,” said Shail Maniar, vice president and
managing director, Sabre India. “This award is a testament of our
continuous effort to build a strong work culture and offer unique
and exciting opportunities to develop technology products that
transform travel and solve unique, complex and real-world
problems.”
Sabre achieved high
scores across several different areas covering innovation,
diversity and workplace environment. It also exceeded many
survey benchmarks for the IT software industry, with 87% of
employees voting Sabre a Great Place to Work.
Sabre was also
highly recognized by employees in the following areas:
- 88%
employees felt pride in developing transformational travel
technology products;
- 82% agreed to a strong sense of trust
between the employees and management – camaraderie;
- 91% voted
that they experience a fun and friendly work-environment at work;
- 89% voted for a high level of work-life balance;
and
- 90%
showcased that the organization was encouraging a
non-discriminating work culture.
“As we seek to expand the
Bangalore development centre, our goal is to continue to make
Sabre the premier place to work for employees who want to
transform the travel industry and grow their careers,” said Maniar.
“Flexible work hours, transparency, diversity and inclusiveness,
and leadership development are key factors that contribute to high
employee engagement at Sabre.”
The Bangalore centre was set up
in 2005 with the aim of supporting Sabre’s global operations and
clients across its businesses – Airline and Hospitality Solutions
and Travel Network.
Currently, the centre has more than 1,400
employees, double that of last year, and has expanded twice to
accommodate new hires.
Over the last decade, the center has been
instrumental in developing software solutions that have helped
drive the
future of the global travel marketplace across airlines, airports,
hotels, car rental outlets, railways and cruise line, tour
operators, travel agencies, travel management companies and
corporate travel departments.
The centre recently expanded in
India to accelerate product innovation, development and global
operations.
