Wyndham Signs Ramada Resort in Malaysia

Wyndham Hotel Group has signed a franchise agreement for a Ramada resort in Malaysia.

The RM455 million project, which is owned and developed by Kinta Berkat SDN BHD, is due to open in 2018.

A forest and sea-themed resort, Ramada Resort Lumut lies next to a forest reserve with panoramic views of the Straits of Malacca. The mixed-use property will feature 170 guestrooms, 269 residential and serviced apartments, 7 exclusive forest villas complete with plunge pools and a forest spa nestled under a spring pool.

A four-storey podium will house multi-functional rooms and a banquet hall catering to 350 people, all hidden behind a three-storey waterfall overlooking an infinity pool with views of the forest and the grounds.

“As a company, we are committed to expanding our portfolio of offerings in destinations that people want to visit, and Malaysia is certainly a key market for us,” said President and Managing Director of Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Barry Robinson. “Ramada Resort Lumut is a truly unique resort that I am confident will appeal to a range of guests.”

The resort is located on the west coast of Malaysia between Kuala Lumpur and Penang and accessible via the international airport in Ipoh and soon to be completed West Coast Expressway. It is a short boat ride to Pangkor Island, known for its stunning beaches.

“The upcoming developments around the area will boost tourism in this area and command a steady influx of tourists. With the support of the globally-recognised Wyndham Hotel Group, we are certain that Ramada Resort Lumut will set the benchmark for new resorts in Malaysia,” said Kinta Berkat Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato Roslan Khalid.
