2,528 Hotels / 585,879 Rooms Under Contract in Asia Pacific

According to the January 2016 STR Global Pipeline Report, there are 2,528 hotels totalling 585,879 rooms Under Contract in the Asia Pacific region.

This represents an 8.1% increase in rooms Under Contract compared with January 2015 and a 0.4% year-on-year increase in rooms under construction.

The region reported 255,016 rooms in 1,016 hotels under construction for the month.

Among the region’s key markets, Shanghai, China, reported the largest number of rooms under construction with 9,198 rooms in 35 hotels.

Three additional markets each reported more than 5,000 rooms under construction: Chengdu, China (6,012 rooms in 23 hotels); Jakarta, Indonesia (5,743 rooms in 24 hotels); and Bali, Indonesia (5,018 rooms in 34 hotels).

The Under Contract data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Unconfirmed stage.
