Aviation Safety Seminars Taking Place in Singapore

The Singapore Aviation Safety Seminars (SASS), organised by the Flight Safety Foundation and the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA), got underway Monday morning with a keynote address by renowned U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) human factors expert, Bill Johnson, Ph.D.

Johnson is Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance Systems at FAA, and his keynote address was titled “The Endless and Necessary Attention to Human Performance in Engineering Safety.”

Jon Beatty, President and CEO of the Foundation, said, “Our SASS partnership with the Singapore Aviation Academy is one we value very highly. This event has gotten better each year and I am confident that 2016’s will be the best yet. I’d like to thank everyone at SAA and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore who helped put this outstanding program together.”

SASS will continue throughout the week with presentations and discussions on a wide range of critical aviation safety topics.

“Thanks to the strong partnership with the Flight Safety Foundation, the Singapore Aviation Academy is pleased to host this series of aviation safety seminars,” said Tiang Guan, Deputy Director-General, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. “The convergence of aviation safety experts at the Academy will facilitate crucial conversations on some of the key aviation safety challenges and issues affecting the industry. We look forward to the sharing of knowledge and exchange of ideas to enhance flight safety worldwide.”
