Lufthansa Opens Family Check-In Counter at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand

Lufthansa has opened a Family Check-In service at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand.

The service is designed to make flying a more memorable experience for children, right from the moment they arrive at the airport. At the Family Check-In Counter, children can climb a few steps so they can watch the check-in procedure, receive their boarding pass and also a special “Best Friend” boarding pass for their teddy or cuddly toy accompanying them on their flight.

“Even prior to take off our young passengers should have a memorable experience with Lufthansa. We are therefore delighted that we are now also able to offer this new family-friendly service at Bangkok,” said Dirk Grossmann, Lufthansa General Manager Thailand and the Mekong Region.

Bangkok is the very first airport in the Asia Pacific region that offers this unique service.

Children and their parents are able to identify the Family Check-In area even from a distance with its distinct signage. As they make their way on a runway-like carpet towards the Family Check-in counter, they go through an arch and will be welcomed by the Lufthansa mascots Lu and Cosmo. At the desks, Lufthansa service staff then issue family members with their boarding passes and accommodate their seating requests and any special needs.

Children are an important customer group for Lufthansa. In the past year the crews welcomed more than 750,000 children and adolescents on board.
