CPN Launches Onshore Travel Planner App for
Japanese Ports
Cruise Port Navigation (CPN), a travel services
company based in Los Angeles, California and Odawara, Japan, has launched a mobile app that allows cruise
passengers to plan their onshore activities while their ship is at
port.
The Cruise Port Navigator app, described by CPN
as a “virtual tour guide” for cruisers, features a guide
to Japan and overview of major Japanese cruise ports.
The app is currently only available on Apple
with an Android version expected to be launched in 2017.
The app works with GPS to provide information about a variety of points of interest
such as cultural and historical sites, local restaurants,
duty-free shopping areas, recreational facilities, and more.
The places are identified in both English and
Japanese including Romanized pronunciation to facilitate
independent onshore touring.
“The Cruise Port Navigator app is a very
cost-effective alternative to organized group tours,” said Heather
Hopkins Clement, CPN’s co-founder and chief executive officer. “The
port planners enable the cruiser to do exactly what he or she
wishes to do while in port. The historical and cultural overviews
provide the context that will ensure a personal, authentic, and
enjoyable experience.”
CPN plans to expand its app to include
more ports in Japan and to offer the app in other languages.
