STR Global has partnered Ecole Hôtelière de
Lausanne (EHL) to launch the Lausanne Hospitality Research Center.
The mission of the Lausanne Hospitality Research Center in
partnership with STR Global is to be an eminent source of
international hospitality research and leading distributor of that
knowledge.
The center provides an online platform that features
the research-based hospitality knowledge generated by center
fellows and EHL students and makes it freely available to
hospitality industry managers and leaders, Lausanne Hospitality
Research Center in partnership with STR Global industry sponsors
and EHL’s students, faculty and other stakeholders.
STR
Global and EHL share a commitment to bridging the gap between
industry and academia. Together, they can provide practical
solutions for the challenges the industry faces today, as well as look ahead to proactively address issues the industry will face
tomorrow.
“We are excited about the opportunity to increase
the dialogue between educators, researchers and industry
professionals,” said Elizabeth Winkle, Managing Director of STR
Global. “We seek to bridge the gap between academia and the hotel
industry. We also look forward to communicating the results of
academic research to the industry. STR Global appreciates EHL’s
desire to analyse and address performance trends, development
challenges and profitability issues. A closer collaboration will
benefit hotel companies and tourism organizations around the
world.”
STR and STR Global have been committed to academia
since their inception in 1985. In 2011, STR and STR Global
launched the SHARE Center to significantly increase its quality of
service to universities around the world. The mission is to
provide schools with large volumes of various types of hotel and
tourism data, as well as related resources, for research, student
projects, and for use in the classroom. EHL was one of the first
universities to join the SHARE Center and continues to be a strong
supporter. There are now nearly 400 members schools from 50
countries.
STR and STR Global are also
involved with the new Masters in Global Hospitality Business
programme. This programme offers students an opportunity to work
with the most qualified professionals to gain a thorough
understanding of the hotel industry around the world. The
“Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics”, jointly offered by
STR and AHLEI, will be presented to students during this program.
The first intake for the program is in September 2015.
