Record Summer for Nice Côte d'Azur Airport

Nearly 3 million passengers passed through Nice Côte d'Azur Airport in July and August 2015, a 4.1% increase and 111,000 passengers more than those same two months in 2014.

A record 53,000 travellers passed through the airport on Sunday, 2 August 2015 - the airport's busiest day.

72% of passengers using the airport took international flights, with Europe, representing 65%, taking the largest share of traffic.

The most popular destination was Benelux, which accounted for 18% of traffic, due mainly to the arrival of a third airline operating flights to and from Amsterdam and reinforced routes to and from Eindhoven and Rotterdam.

In second position, the Iberian Peninsula continues to be supported by Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon.

In third position, Turkey continues its breakthrough with a new regular service to Istanbul (+ 48% passengers).

Scandinavia also enjoyed a strong growth of +6%, including Norway ( +7.4%) and Denmark (+7.2%).

Canada enjoyed an 8.6% increase while North Africa rose by 9.8%.

Domestic traffic was stable.

Reduced Airport Charges

In June 2015, the Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur Group reduced airport charges in Nice.

The reduction in airport charges will amount to -2.5% for winter 2016/17, and the new rates will be frozen for the following nine years.
