Italian Luca Cesarini, Executive Chef of
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel, has been appointed by Lufthansa
to create tailor-made premium menus for passengers on all
intercontinental flights from Southeast Asia to Germany as part of
Lufthansa’s in-flight initiative, the Star Chefs program.
Luca Cesarini graduated from the renowned
Italian College for Culinary Arts in Stresa, Italy. At the age of
just 21 he became the Executive Sous Chef at Il Palio restaurant
in New York, where he won prestigious awards at the International
Salon Culinaire of Food & Beverage.
He has also held positions at
The St. Regis Shanghai, at Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maldives,
Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast and has already experienced
the world of Thailand while working as Executive Sous Chef at The Sukhothai in Bangkok from 2004 – 2008.
“We are very proud to be partnering with Chef
Luca from Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok to create and
offer a wide range of exclusive premium menus for our passengers
traveling on Lufthansa flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt. With Chef
Luca as a master of authentic Italian cuisine being based in
Bangkok, we believe that he is able to bring the two cultures
closer together through his food creations,” said Mr. Dirk
Grossmann, General Manager Passenger Sales Thailand and the Mekong
Region.
Luca Cesarini has developed his craft in the
kitchens of Italy and has a wealth of experience working in
renowned restaurants around the world. The menu of Cesarini
provides those on board with an enticing selection of
Mediterranean dishes with an Asian twist:
From 1 September onwards, Lufthansa Business
Class passengers will be offered a choice of three starters: a seafood
option, e.g. avocado crab meat timbale with vegetables curls and a
capsicum- carrot-puree; a meat option, e.g. slow roasted beef
with chickpea salad, mint tabouleh and a Mediterranean carrot
salad and a vegetarian option, e.g. shaved cantaloupe melon
combined with feta cheese, rocket and walnut.
Among the main courses will be anise seeds
spiced veal tenderloin with herbed potatoes and caramelized apple;
stir fried prawns with green peppercorn, vegetable fried rice,
oyster bok choi and shiitake mushroom or sage butter soft potato
gnocchi in blue cheese cream sauce, Swiss chard and sundried
tomato. For dessert, the Italian has created some tempting
choices like hazelnut parfait with egg nog sauce or New York
cheese cake with blueberry compote.
“As Executive Chef at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit,
Luca Cesarini has enhanced the hotel’s reputation as a gourmet
destination. The luxurious hotel is renowned for Rossini’s, one of
the finest Italian restaurants in Bangkok, and basil, a stylish
contemporary restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine with flair
and creativity. We are delighted that he will provide Lufthansa’s
passengers with a mouth-watering and memorable dining experience,” said Richard Chapman, the hotel’s General Manager.
