Mr. Wolf-Alvaro Rautenberg has been appointed as
General Manager of The Grand Mansion, a Luxury Collection Hotel,
Nanjing.
A native of Germany born in Brazil and fluent in several
languages, Mr. Rautenberg brings an extensive and distinguished
resume with comprehensive experience of opening new luxury
properties.
For the past decade, Mr. Rautenberg has held a variety
of positions of progressive responsibility at luxury hotels in
China. Just prior to The Grand Mansion, Mr. Rautenberg served as
General Manager of The Westin Hotel Wuhan and, prior to that, The
Westin Hotel Fuzhou.
Before joining the Starwood
family of hotels and resorts, Mr. Rautenberg served on the
management teams for several Kempinski Hotels in China where he
held positions of increasing responsibility and managed teams with
hundreds of members. He served as General Manager for the
Kempinski Hotels in Suzhou and Shenyang; both five-star hotels
with gourmet restaurants and conference facilities. He served as
the Executive Assistant Manager at Kempinski Hotels in Sanya and
Shenyang and, prior to that, the Director of Food and Beverage for
the Kempinski Hotel Beijing.
His achievements at
Kempinski included the General Managers Finance Award for
achieving the highest percentage increase for all Kempinksi Hotels
worldwide; the Sales Award for best performance; the General
Managers award for highest employee satisfaction; and Manager of
the Year.
Before arriving in China, Mr. Rautenberg
was the Director of Food and Beverage and the Kempinski Grand
Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg, Russia where he managed a team of nearly 400 members. At the Swissotel in Chicago, Mr. Rautenberg
managed food and beverage and banquets for the popular 661-room
hotel with restaurants and meeting facilities. Mr. Rautenberg
launched his hospitality career in his native Germany at the
prestigious Maritim Hotels. A trained chef, he started out in the
kitchens where he worked his way up to Food and Beverage Director.
When he is not working, he enjoys landscape and Macro
photography, experimenting and enhancing his culinary skills and
uses his free time to explore the historic and ancient places a
city has to offer.
