According to data compiled by STR, the Canadian
hotel industry reported positive results in the three key
performance metrics for the third quarter of 2015.
In year-on-year results, the Canadian hotel
industry’s occupancy increased 0.2% to 76.6%; ADR was up 6.1% to
CAD$154.95; and RevPAR increased 6.9% to CAD$113.76.
Among the provinces, Prince Edward Island
reported the largest increase in occupancy, up 7.5% to 89.6%. Nova
Scotia followed with a 6.2% increase to 81.9%.
Alberta experienced the steepest occupancy
decline, down 9.7% to 68.4%.
British Columbia posted the only double-digit
rise in ADR, up 13.3% to CAD$180.67.
Saskatchewan (-2.5% to CAD$128.20) and
Newfoundland and Labrador (-1.4% to CAD$160.14) were the only two
provinces to report a drop in ADR.
Five provinces recorded a double-digit increase
in RevPAR, led by Prince Edward Island (+19.7% to CAD$125.16).
Alberta reported the only double-digit decrease
in RevPAR, down 11.5% to CAD$103.81.
