George Wee has been appointed as Regional Vice
President, in addition to his role as general manager, Fairmont
Peace Hotel in Shanghai.
George’s focus will now include increased
responsibility for all the other operating Fairmont properties in
China – Fairmont Beijing, Fairmont Nanjing and Fairmont Yangcheng
Lake – and he will work closely with each hotel’s leadership teams
on the development of strategic business practices.
“George will play an important role in providing
leadership to the current Fairmont properties in China,” said
Foued El Mabrouk, Vice President, Operations, China, FRHI Hotels &
Resorts. “His extensive experience with the Chinese market is a
huge advantage and I have full confidence that he will contribute
immensely to the success of Fairmont in the region.”
Before joining the company in 2013, George held
senior management positions with hotel brands such as Shangri-La,
InterContinental and Sheraton in China, Malaysia, Singapore and
Australia.
George began his stint with the hospitality
industry in 1980 after his graduation in Hotel Management at
Brighton College, Sussex, England.
