Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa has partnered with
one of the world’s most popular cycle tour companies, Pinarello
Travel, to offer exclusive cycling tours around the Australian
Snowy Mountains.
The Italian travel agency, which offers
cycling tours from the French Pyrenees to the Italian Dolomites
has recognised the Snowy Mountain region as one of Australia’s
best places for road and mountain bike riding.
Pinarello
Travel Tour Director Yvette Fuser said that after much research
and assistance from the Jindabyne Cycling Club, they have decided
to make Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa their Australian base.
““The area has everything cyclist needs – great quality roads,
minimal traffic, breathtaking scenery, stable weather, excellent services and welcoming locals. This is the beginning of an
exciting and amazing partnership which will open up this area and
its importance to Australian cycling fans,” said Ms Fuser.
The first tour will take place from 4 February
2016, with four days of
cycling from Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa to Charlotte Pass - the highest sealed road in Australia.
Cyclists will hug the shoreline of the expansive Lake Jindabyne and Lake Eucumbene, all part of the Snowy River Scheme,
which employed hundreds of Italian immigrants during its
construction.
And amongst the beautiful scenery, there will be
cycling challenges like the wicked Tom Groggin - a genuine Hors
category climb and one of the toughest climbs in Australia.
Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa’s Activities & Guest Experiences Manager, Craig Trevallion,
said, “This resort is a natural playground nestled in the
Thredbo Valley surrounded by the spectacular Snowy Mountains. When
going to work, I feel like I’m in a place every cyclist would love
to be. All ages are catered for with the resort offering a range
of activities in addition to cycling like canoeing, Segway tours,
hikes, archery, golf, tennis, Day Spa treatments, amazing dining
experiences and much more.”
