According to data compiled by ACI Asia Pacific,
the summer holiday season continued to support strong passenger
traffic in August 2015, with Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern
airports recording growth of 8.3% and 15% respectively.
The majority of airports in the region reported
positive passenger growth for the month with strong support from
both international and domestic travels.
Among the largest airports in the region,
Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Bangkok (BKK) and New Delhi (DEL) generated
the highest growth rate for the month at +20.9%, +16.0% and +15.3%
respectively.
In the Middle East, the three largest hubs
continued to generate solid growth for the month: Doha (DOH) +22%
and Abu Dhabi (AUH) +17.4% and Dubai (DXB) +9.5%.
Air freight remained weak, continued to be
impacted by slowdown across Asian export markets and oil producing
economies. In August 2015, freight volumes were essentially flat
in Asia Pacific 0% and the Middle East +0.9%.
