InterContinental Hotels Group and Brack Capital
Real Estate (BCRE) have opened the third Hotel Indigo in New York
City.
The 293-room flagship Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York
is located at 171 Ludlow Street, in the heart of one of
Manhattan’s most storied neighborhoods.
Enriched with the culture of its first
inhabitants, arts and creative exploration, the Lower East Side
(LES) has seen everything from immigrants passing through
Ellis Island in the early 20th century and the wave of artists who
took up residence in the 1960’s, to the graffiti art that covered
the streets in the 1980’s and 1990’s. It’s now a neighborhood
defined by adventurous trendsetters of the current generation –
and where music, art and dance legends have all spent time, gained
influence and made an impact.
Jason Moskal, Vice
President, Lifestyle Brands, The Americas, IHG said, “As the
excitement for boutique hotels continues to grow, we are thrilled
to launch our newest flagship Hotel Indigo hotel in the heart of
New York City’s Lower East Side. This hotel will also serve as the
canvas for the brand’s newest campaign, Color of Discovery,
bringing guests an unparalleled opportunity to discover the unique
story of one of the city’s most intriguing neighborhoods. From the
culture of its inhabitants to its bright, graffiti-painted streets, guests will be inspired by the glamour of the
neighborhood which is seamlessly integrated into the design and
service style of the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York.”
When guests first
arrive, they will immediately be drawn in by the art and
architecture uniquely incorporated into the hotel’s design.
From
the ground floor entryway, guests will proceed to the 14th floor
lobby which offers unobstructed city views via floor-to-ceiling
windows spanning the entire space.
The impressive 5,000 sq. ft.
terrace located on the west side of the 15th floor offers
360-degree views of Manhattan and is outfitted with its own
swimming pool, bar and a variety of seating options.
The
hotel commissioned legendary street artist Lee Quinones to help
bring the distinctive neighborhood to life throughout the hotel experience.
From the custom life-sized mural on the lobby ceiling
to the unique wall art within guestrooms and elevator lobbies, all of Quinones’ work vividly brings the storied past and present of
the Lower East Side to life.
Quinones, who was raised in the LES,
is one of the originators of street art in the 1970’s and was
instrumental in moving street art above ground. In 1980, he
ushered in an important era as spray paint made the transition
from moving objects to stationary canvas works.
The hotel also
features two art sculptures from filmmaker and street artist Mr.
Brainwash (aka Thierry Guetta) on loan from his “Life is
Beautiful” pop-up gallery.
In partnership with the
acclaimed Gerber Group, the Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York
features Mr. Purple, an 8,750 sq. ft. neighborhood rooftop bar &
restaurant located on the 15th floor. The space captures the
vibrant and artistic spirit of the LES with an artist-loft
ambiance. Mr. Purple’s menu will connect guests with local iconic
culinary staples such as Russ & Daughters, 2nd Avenue Deli, Pat LaFrieda, Pickle Guys, Il Laboratorio del Gelato, Yonah Schimmel
Knish Bakery and Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, in addition to
featuring locally sourced ingredients. The cocktail, beer and wine
menu features an expansive collection of small-batch spirits,
regionally brewed craft beers, universal wine offerings and a
rotating selection of Gerber Group’s classic and modern cocktails
that highlight market fresh ingredients.
The hotel also offers
guests and locals the opportunity to enjoy seasonal and locally
sourced food and drinks at the café and bar located on the lobby
level from purveyors such as Liquiteria, Irving Farm and Melt
Bakery.
Starting from the 5th floor, the
guestrooms feature unobstructed views of midtown Manhattan and the
downtown skyline; plush bedding; hard-surface flooring with area
rugs; and spa-inspired bathrooms with locally sourced C.O. Bigelow
apothecary amenities.
The hotel includes four
suites and one duplex penthouse loft. The penthouse
sits on the 25th and 26th floors overlooking downtown Manhattan
and offers clear views of the New York City skyline.
Guests also
have access to a 24-hour fitness center and over 600 sq. ft. of
meeting space, including a private outdoor area for events.
