Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), formerly
Myanma Airways, has launched
flights between Yangon and Singapore, the airline’s first international route in 22 years.
The airline will operate the route six times per
week, daily except for Saturdays.
“We are pleased to now offer guests flying
between Singapore and Yangon our top-class services aboard our new
leading-edge Boeing 737-800NG,” said Captain Than Tun, Chief
Executive Officer of MNA. “I would like to take this special
opportunity to thank the people of Singapore and local airport
authorities for their great support in helping MNA launch
passenger flights to this dynamic city.”
With the launch of the service, passengers can enjoy seamless connections to MNA’s current domestic network of 26
destinations.
In June 2015, the airline received the
first in a series of new, state-of-the-art Boeing Next-Generation
737s joining its fleet. The first arrival is
one of six Boeing
Next-Generation 737-800s and four 737-Max 8s MNA ordered as part
of a multi-million dollar strategy to re-invigorate its brand and
signal the re-emergence of Myanmar as a competitive member of the
global aviation market.
On top of that, the
airline is also adding
six ATR 72-600s to service its domestic network, with the first
two planes arriving this year.
The
airline also recently installed a state-of-the-art computerised management
system for reservations and departure control processes as well as
a new website providing electronic bookings, payment, and seat
selection.
