Cambodia Bayon Airlines has chosen Abacus as a global distribution system partner.

The multi-year distribution agreement will provide Abacus-connected travel agents across 29 markets with access to all the airline’s expanding fare content.

“In Asia, travel agencies remain a core point-of-sale to customers. Abacus, our first and primary GDS partner is therefore the cornerstone of our strategy to establish a consistent booking network and become an accepted world-class flight service,” said Mr Bai Wei Dong, Vice President of Cambodia Bayon Airlines. “We have begun with services between Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. This partnership will also support our plans to develop the ASEAN region, as well as establishing routes into China, South Korea and Japan.”

Ho Hoong Mau, VP Airline Distribution for Abacus, added, “Abacus channels over 80% of the agency bookings within Cambodia. We are therefore pleased to be chosen as Bayon Cambodia Airlines’ preferred distribution partner and confident that we can accelerate their expansion plans. Just in Q1, our Cambodia business grew another 10% and we know Abacus agents all around the region will appreciate the added choice as well as differentiation of this home-grown brand.”

The new carrier operates 20 MA60 aircraft and plans to acquire Airbus A320s for future international routes. It is a subsidiary of Bayon Holding Limited, part of Aviation Corporation of China (AVIC) and China Eastern’s Joy Air.
