After two years of research and development,
Delsey has
unveiled details of its first connected concept bag: Pluggage.
Recent developments in technology have
revolutionized mobility and created new and exciting products. For
travelers, these changes result in more ways to be assisted on
their journeys, to be informed in real time about their modes of
transportation, and to access new services to simplify their
travel and ensure peace of mind.
"Who hasn't dreamed of being able to charge
their phone at any time without fighting for available power
points in the departure lounge? Who hasn't taken a plane without
worrying whether their case is on board? Just like the first rigid
trolley suitcase with wheels, that Delsey launched in 1972 which
simplified the lives of travelers walking the corridors of
stations and airports, Pluggage will make life easier for the
ultra-connected," said Albert Engler, head designer at Delsey.
Some of the ideas that make Pluggage different
include an overload indicator that helps
avoid nasty surprises relating to overweight baggage and even a trip checklist
to help ensure that
nothing has been forgotten. A built in
charger to recharge your smartphone anywhere, and once you are on board,
an app connected to the luggage confirms the presence of your
luggage on board the plane with an alert. Upon arrival, the verification system
tells the traveler if the luggage was opened while in transit. Built-in speakers
would allow the traveler to listen and share their favorite music,
no matter where they are, and an interior lighting system promises
to make finding personal
belongings a little easier. There is even an idea for a digital
fingerprint system to enhance security.
Through
the App, Pluggage can also be used to inform travelers in real time of
flight information and weather conditions at the destination. Finally,
