Public visitors to the Paris Air Show this year
will have a rare opportunity to meet face-to-face with one of only
24 men who have flown to the moon and back, when NASA Astronaut Al
Worden joins the crew of Aérogare USA for the public weekend
presentation of the U.S. International Pavilion next week at Le
Bourget.
During the Trade Week of the Paris Air Show,
15-19 June, the U.S. International Pavilion will be home to 230-plus American exhibitors competing to grow their share of
global commercial, military and space markets.
During the following “Public Weekend”, American organizer Kallman Worldwide will transform the
pavilion into Aérogare USA, a celebration of U.S. innovation in
aviation.
This year, Astronaut Worden will be
the featured Aérogare USA guest presenter during the mornings of 20 and 21
June in Hall 3. His
presentation will recall his flight to the moon, 26 July to 7
August 1971, as the Command Module Pilot of Apollo 15.
During
that flight, Worden was recognized by the Guinness Book of
World Records as the “most isolated human being” for being 2,235
miles away from any other people.
In addition to talking
with air show visitors about his life as an astronaut, Worden will
take pictures with Aérogare USA visitors and autograph copies
of his book, Falling to Earth.
Aérogare USA will also feature educational displays, interactive
exhibits, games, crafts, giveaways and concessions designed to
engage and entertain visitors of all ages, particularly families
and children.
“The Paris Air Show would not exist without the
enthusiastic support of the French people, particularly the
citizens of Paris. The success of the event is a direct reflection
of their deep cultural affection for flight, and national pride
in hosting the world’s aerospace leaders every two years at Le
Bourget,” said Kallman Worldwide President and CEO Tom Kallman.
“On behalf of our exhibitors and our U.S. International Pavilion
team, we’re proud to present Aérogare USA, featuring American
hero, Al Worden, for the enlightenment and enjoyment of public
visitors to this year’s Paris Air Show.”
The 2015 edition of
Aérogare USA follows the success of the inaugural presentation in
2013, which hosted 4,000-plus visitors and staffed 14 activity
stations over the two-day period.
