As part of the ongoing celebrations of 40 years
of Sevens in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union’s
Community Foundation has unveiled details of the first ever ‘Hong
Kong’s Rugby Spirit’ light show as part of the International
Commerce Centre (ICC) Light and Music Show.
From 20-29 March 2015, Hong Kong residents and
the thousands of tourists arriving for the world-famous
Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens (27-29 March) will be
dazzled by even more evening entertainment as the entire 490-metre
high International Commerce Centre façades will be lit up with a
special synchronized light show.
Themed ‘Hong Kong’s Rugby Spirit’, the 2-minute
show will be played twice nightly at 19:45 and 21:00,
immediately after ICC’s ordinary light show.
The show has been especially created to
highlight the attributes shared by both rugby and Hong Kong:
determination, teamwork, respect and pride.
This year marks the first time that rugby has
been featured on the award-winning ICC Light and Music Show.
“For the past four decades, the renowned Hong
Kong Sevens has helped to put Hong Kong in the international
sporting spotlight. In 2015, this will be truer than ever before
as we mark the anniversary of 40 years of Sevens in Hong Kong with
a spectacular themed light show on the façades of Hong Kong’s
iconic International Commerce Centre. The HKRFU Community
Foundation would like to express our sincere thanks to ICC and Sun
Hung Kai Properties for their support,” said Robbie McRobbie
General Manager of Rugby and Commercial at the Hong Kong Rugby
Football Union.
Cris Fung, General Manager of Retail
Marketing & Customer Relations, Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency,
added, “The ICC Light and Music Show, a gift to the
people of Hong Kong and visitors, has undergone various endeavours.
We are delighted to collaborate with HKRFU Community Foundation to
celebrate 40 Years of Sevens in Hong Kong together with the world.
We hope the light show can spread energy from the sport of Rugby
and cheer for our city.”
The ICC Light and Music Show is a
LED light show that won the Guinness World Record
for “The Largest Light and Sound Show on a Single Building”.
Recommended viewing locations for the show
include the waterfront promenades from Sheung Wan to Causeway Bay
including Tamar Park, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park and the terraces
(Podium 3 and 4) of the IFC mall.
ICC is the tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong and
will allow the global audience of sevens fans and local community
as well as thousands of tourists and visitors to the city to
experience this one-of-a- kind attraction alongside Hong Kong’s
unparalleled vibrant nightscape.
