The new route will commence on 1 May 2015 and to celebrate the airline is offering a promotional fare from 3,990 THB per trip. The special fare is available until 15 February 2015 for travel from 1 May 2015 to 26 March 2016.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) indicated that in 2014, a total of 657,600 Thai citizens traveled to Japan, an increase of 45% compared to the previous year. Divided into types, Group Inclusive Tours (G.I.T) made up 50% of the figure while Free Independent Travelers (F.I.T) making up the other 50%.

“This year, we are ready to fully enter the Japanese market through our new route from Bangkok to Sapporo on Hokkaido Island, which is a dream destination many have been waiting for as it is a destination “for all seasons” with highlights throughout the year. Visitors can see blooming Sakura flowers in the spring (April-May), witness the lavender fields in the summer (June-August), watch the trees change color in the fall (September-November) and enjoy skiing during the winter (December-February),” said Mr. Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X.

From 26 March onward, the airline will also be increasing the frequency of its Bangkok- Tokyo route to 2 times per day and its Bangkok-Osaka route to daily.

Combined with the Bangkok-Sapporo route, Thai AirAsia X will fly 4 times daily to Japan, providing over 3,000 seats.

Thai AirAsia X has also joined with Thai AirAsia to offer Fly-Thru service to passengers from Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuket and Krabi. Travellers can reach Sapporo, Japan by connecting through Don Mueang Airport without the need to check-in twice and with their baggage sent directly to their final destination.

Travelers from Japan can also use the Fly-Thru service to connect to provinces of Thailand or even to other countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Vietnam.
