Garuda Indonesia today launched flights between
Jakarta and London via Amsterdam.
Garuda will operate the route
five times per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and
Sunday.
The new flights are being operated with Boeing
777-300ER aircraft capable of carrying 314 passengers, in a
three-class configuration.
The aircraft is equipped with inflight connectivity facilities
that include WiFi and Live TV for passengers in all classes, as
well as a chef on board for First Class passengers.
Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales of
Garuda Indonesia Mr. Erik Meijer, said, "We are very pleased
to be able to add London to our extensive global network. There
are strong business, educational and cultural ties between
Indonesia and The United Kingdom, and we believe this new service
will further boost those activities amongst two countries, whilst
offering easier access for travelers from UK to Indonesia, which
now is one of the fastest economic growth centers in the world."
Following
its entrance into the SkyTeam global airline alliance on March
2014, Garuda decided to make Amsterdam its
hub for Europe and beyond. The airline started flying non-stop between Jakarta and Amsterdam on 30 May
2014.
