Qantas has opened up a new pathway to South
America for customers departing Hong Kong, with launch fares
available to Santiago via Sydney, starting at HK$13,500 return.
By
choosing to fly east with Qantas, Hong Kong travellers can, for
the first time, reach Santiago in just over 26 hours with only one
stop, compared to an average of 29 hours when flying through
European hubs.
From Santiago, Qantas customers can enjoy
connections to Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with
oneworld partners in the LATAM Airlines Group - LAN Airlines, LAN
Colombia and TAM Airlines.
“Santiago has been a Qantas
destination since March 2012 so we are delighted to create access
for our customers in Hong Kong with a quicker and more direct
route to the South American gateway,” said Stephen Thompson,
Qantas Executive Manager International Sales. “The new fares will also be welcomed by football
fans, as they prepare to make their way to Brazil for this year’s
FIFA World Cup. Our codeshare services with oneworld partners in
South America will allow customers to connect through from
Santiago to host cities for this year’s tournament.”
Together, Qantas and LAN Airlines offer ten weekly return services
between Australia and Santiago, with Qantas flights operated by
B747 aircraft reconfigured with the flagship A380 product.
