Michael Murphy has been appointed as general
manager of Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in China.
Scheduled to
open in early 2015, the property is located at the picturesque
gateway to the majestic Qing Cheng Mountain and has been created
to complement the UNESCO World Heritage & Natural Cultural site
nearby to Dujiangyan.
Michael’s career has seen him working in the
Asia region for over 20 years and in China since 2005. His most
recent roles include pre-opening general manager of Howard Johnson
Hi-Tech Plaza Chengdu and chief operating officer of Landison
Tourism Group.
Starting his career as a management
trainee at Hilton Hong Kong more than two decades ago, he
continuously progressed in food and beverage and general
management positions in five-star properties in Japan, Vietnam,
Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and Bahamas.
On making the
announcement of Michael’s appointment, Six Senses Hotels Resorts
Spas President Bernhard Bohnenberger said, “Michael's knowledge in
business and culture is highly valuable and will put us ahead of
the game in the region. His proactive management style will ensure
that his team exemplifies the Six Senses mission to help people
reconnect with themselves and the world around them, as we move
toward celebrating the successful opening of our first Six Senses
resort in China.”
