Soneva Kiri, a luxury resort located on Koh Kood
in Thailand, will next month launch twice weekly flights by
private plane to Siem Reap in Cambodia, home to the captivating
world heritage wonders of Angkor Wat.
The service, which comprises flights to Siem Reap
and back every Sunday and Wednesday with brief stops on the ground
at Trat airport to clear Thai customs and immigration, will commence on
16 November 2014.
The flights are operated with Cessna Grand
Caravan single-engine turboprop aircraft, and the average flight time is between 50 and
60 minutes.
Soneva Kiri's newly appointed General Manager,
Graham Grant, said, "We fly much lower
(10-12,000 feet) than commercial flights, so the views are
dramatic. The journey carries you across an endless, infinitely
detailed carpet of jungle, giving passengers a rare glimpse of the
lush beauty in anticipation of the famous landmark temples like Bayon, Tha Phrom and Angkor Wat."
The cost of the flight is US$650 plus taxes for adults and
children over twelve, and US$325 plus taxes for the under twelve's –
with an opening offer until the 20 December 2014 of US$450 plus taxes
per head.
A private charter for up to eight people is also
possible.
As Cambodian
law currently states that all visitors must spend at least one night in
Cambodia, day return trips are not possible.
Bookings must be confirmed 30 days in advance,
and the luggage restriction is 25 kg / person including hand
luggage. Other terms and conditions apply.
