Swiss-Belhotel International has launched a 'Caring for KL' programme at Wedgewood Residences by Swiss-Belhotel, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Part of the initiative is to separate waste and perishables on site before they are sent to the hotel's gardens for composting, or recycling plants where appropriate.

All composting efforts help sustain staff members' vegetable and herb patches, adding a personal touch to kitchen produce, as well as reducing the hotel's carbon footprint.

Paper, plastic and glass waste are sold to recycling companies, with all proceeds being used to fund staff activities.

General Manager of Wedgewood Residences by Swiss-Belhotel, Ms Jerina Foong, said, "Sustainability is becoming an ever greater priority for travellers and hotel guests, and it is our belief that the future growth of Asia's hospitality industry is in environmentally-friendly tourism. Swiss-Belhotel International aims to be a central figure in that growth, which is why we are proud to be leading the way with initiatives such as the 'Caring for KL' programme."

A low-rise building featuring 118 serviced apartments, Wedgewood Residences by Swiss-Belhotel occupies an address in the affluent area of Mont Kiara in Kuala Lumpur, within walking distance of up-scale shopping, dining and entertainment centres, as well as in easy reach of the city's thriving Central Business District.

Each of the hotel's total 118 newly refurbished suites features LED televisions, ensuite bathrooms, Wi-Fi internet access and in-room safes.

The property also features a fitness centre, 24-hour concierge services, a cafe', a 25-metre swimming pool, a children's playground, housekeeping services, shuttle services, and a gated and secured car park.
