On 29 October 2014 the Hong Kong Cultural Centre
will take centre stage when the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show
makes its debut.
The Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show will take
place 29 October - 16 November and then from 17-29 December 2014,
and from 14 February to 5 March 2015 (except 19 February). There
will be four shows each
night starting at: 8:30pm, 9:00pm, 9:30pm, and 10:00pm. Each show
will last
about 15 minutes.
The creator behind the show is
Australia-based Spinifex Group. Its Head of Creative, Mr Richard
Lindsay, has over 20 years experience in the design industry and
has been involved in numerous international creative media shows,
including the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, in
which he collaborated with famed Chinese film director Zhang Yimou;
the 2010 Shanghai World Expo; the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics;
and the 2013 edition of the Sydney Opera House light show in
“Vivid Sydney”.
Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) Executive Director Mr Anthony Lau said,
“The HKTB is very pleased to stage the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light
Show. Featuring a series of Hong Kong-themed graphics and images,
the show underscores Hong Kong’s energetic vibe and will add an
extra dimension to Hong Kong’s famous skyline. We will roll out
the show during three festive periods – the CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, which begins in late-October, Hong Kong WinterFest, and the Hong Kong Chinese New Year Celebrations – to
enhance the festive atmosphere. And the stories and visuals for
the three time periods are different to suit the occasions.”
During the first show period, the light show will tell the story
of old Hong Kong and project the city’s vibrancy, with images of steam locomotives from Hong Kong’s past and the old train station,
which was situated at the current location of the Clock Tower and
Cultural Centre, as well as features of the cityscape and
interesting buildings.
