Mandarin Oriental has appointed Jeremy McCarthy
as Group Director of Spa.
Mr McCarthy who will be based at the groups
corporate offices in Hong Kong, is a well-known and respected spa
professional with twenty-five years of luxury and diversified
hotel and leisure services experience.
Mr McCarthy was most recently the Director, Spa
Development and Operations of Starwood Hotels and Resorts where he was responsible for expanding the companys spa division, growing
the brand and providing conceptual design advice and project
management for new spas. From 1989 to 2006, Mr McCarthy held a
number of senior appointments with Four Seasons hotels.
With his many years of luxury hospitality experience and
specialised knowledge of spa operations, I have no doubt that Jeremy will be able to make a significant contribution to the
Groups future success and spa development, said Richard Baker,

A US citizen, Mr McCarthy has served on
various Spa Associations including ISPA, Wellness Tourism
Worldwide, he is the author of The Psychology of Spas and
Wellbeing and Become a Spa Owner and is a regular columnist for
spa magazines. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of
California and a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mandarin Oriental currently has 44
spa projects open or under development: 20 in Asia; 14 in Europe,
the Middle East and North Africa and ten in the Americas.
