Eaton, Hong Kong, a first-time participant in
the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) 2013
Sectoral Awards, was awarded the Gold Award (Hotels and
Recreational Clubs) by the Environmental Campaign Committee,
recognising the hotel’s continuous commitment to environmentally

Since 2009, Eaton,
Hong Kong has been continuously launching major initiatives to
actively strengthen its commitment to sustainability through the
following variety of innovative and environmentally-friendly
features:
- Installing an
eco-friendly drinking water
purification system that allows glass bottles to be re-used. This
has helped to eliminate the consumption and subsequent disposal of
approximately 350,000 plastic bottles every year.
- Introduction of a Green Wall that features 3,600 Sansevieria
trifasciata plants, which assist in improving indoor air quality through the absorption of pollutants and the output of oxygen
without the need for high energy consuming filters or pumps.
- Use, donate and recycle sustainable and renewable
resources – use fully sustainable and renewable bamboo material as an alternative to wood for the lobby walling to minimise the
impact of industrial logging and encourage food donation and recycle of food waste, cooking oil, glass bottle and chemical
waste.
- Implementation of resource saving devices.
Replace air-cool chillers with energy efficient water-cool
chillers that successfully helped the hotel to save up to 25%
electricity, installing solar functioning and low flow taps and
retrofitting halogen bulbs into LED bulbs.
- For
green-savvy guests, the hotel offers a range of green products and
services including eco-friendly guestrooms which make use of
bathroom amenities dispensers to replace single use amenities, LED
lighting, modern environmentally-friendly woven-vinyl flooring and
revolutionary acoustic wall panels that are produced with recycled
materials, low carbon dining options and “Green Meetings by Eaton”
packages, all assist guests to maintain sustainable living during
their stays.
