InterContinental Hotels Group’s Hotel Indigo
brand, which opened its first hotel ten years ago in Atlanta and
now has 55 locations open in 11 countries, has signed its third
hotel in the metro area, connecting guests with another unique
Atlanta neighborhood.
The Hotel Indigo Downtown Atlanta location
will occupy eight floors of a building first developed 50 years
ago by one of Atlanta’s most respected and influential architects,
John C. Portman, Jr., whose real estate development firm, Portman
Holdings, purchased the building. Portman’s architecture firm,
Portman & Associates, is well known for award-winning architecture
of urban mixed-use complexes and will again oversee architectural
services.
“Downtown Atlanta is experiencing a surge in
growth and development, and we look forward to connecting guests
to the newly revitalized neighborhood,” said Mary Winslow, director, Americas Brand Management, Hotel Indigo. “The hotel will
be located in the center of downtown and very close to the new
Atlanta Streetcar line, making it easy to step out and explore. We
are very pleased to be part of a new project in our hometown, and
we’re excited about helping guests discover something new about
the neighborhood every time they visit.”
The Hotel Indigo
Downtown Atlanta hotel, expected to open in fall 2015, will be
located at 230 Peachtree St. NE, near Atlanta gems including
Centennial Olympic Park, the Tabernacle and the Rialto Center for
the Arts. The hotel will be adjacent to AmericasMart, one of the
world’s largest permanent wholesale trade centers, consisting of
four buildings and more than seven million square feet of trade
show space. AmericasMart hosts several trade shows throughout the
year including the Atlanta Apparel Markets and the Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Markets. The approximately
200-room conversion property will have a fitness center, business
center, bar and restaurant.
Every Hotel Indigo property is
uniquely designed to reflect the culture, character and history of
its surrounding neighborhood. This Downtown Atlanta location will
have a unique neighborhood story that will be woven throughout the
guest experience, from the locally sourced food and drinks served
in the restaurant and bar, to the art, photography and
architecture incorporated into the hotel’s design.
Guestrooms will feature plush bedding,
hard-surface flooring with area rugs, and spa-inspired bathrooms.
Guests and locals will enjoy a bar with seasonal and locally
sourced food in a stylish environment. The hotel will feature the
brand’s new Neighborhood Guide, an innovative touchscreen display that connects guests to each
other, to the local neighborhood, and to Hotel Indigo locations
around the world. Hotel team members, many of whom are locals
themselves, will share their favorite hidden gems with guests looking to explore and discover the neighborhood.
The
hotel is owned by Portman 230, LLC, and will be franchised by an
affiliate of IHG.
