Mr. Paul Bugeja has been appointed as Chief
Executive Officer of Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), replacing the
outgoing CEO, Mr Josef Formosa Gauci.
Prior to his appointment as CEO of the
Malta Tourism Authority, Paul held several senior posts at
Corinthia Hotels, most recently, as CFO for the Hotels Operating
Divisions and Group Monitoring Board Director.
He also served this past year as President of
the Malta Hotel & Restaurant Association.
Paul said that he looks forward to utilizing his
extensive experience acquired in the private sector to strengthen
existing initiatives as well as to explore new opportunities that
will expand tourism to Malta, but in a sustainable manner.
“This past year, with the appointment of an MTA
representative in the US, Ms. Michelle Buttigieg, based in New
York City, MTA has already made great strides in reestablishing
Malta Tourism’s official presence in this mostly untapped market,”
he
said.
