The Comedy Club Kuala Lumpur has chosen
the Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur as the official venue for its
monthly Wednesday and Thursday night stand-up comedy.
The
11-month partnership programme will end on 19 February 2015, and the
first official comedy night will take place today (19 March 2014) and
will feature local and internationally renowned comedians.
Jack Jeganesan, Chief Entertainment Officer of
LOL Events, said, “The strategic venue of Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur is
ideal as a venue for stand-up comedies. Moreover, the association
with an internationally renowned brand offers a great opportunity
for our comedians to further build and strengthen their
portfolio.”
Amongst the comedians performing on the
first night will be Daniel Kinno, who has performed his stand-up
comedy on TV shows on NBC, MTV, The Game Show Network and The WB
and has been described as “skilled with a charming and smart act”
by The Hollywood Reporter. He delivers insightful narratives on
topics ranging from the menial tasks of daily life, to
relationships, pop culture, history, and his unusual Russian
heritage with a truly unique perspective.
Dave
Callan, an Irish born star of triple J radio and original Rove
cast member who has performed at various events including the
Edinburgh Festival, will also be performing at The Comedy Club KL.
He has toured Britain, Southeast Asia, Australia and the United
States of America for his stand-up comedy shows and has also
embraced his roots by lending his voice as Feargal, the Irish Sea
Cucumber, in the animated series ‘Mollusks’. He has also performed
in a live show that was nominated for Best Comedy at the Adelaide
Fringe in 2013, ‘The Psychology of Laughter’.
In
addition to the list of comedians is local stand-up comedian,
Andrew Netto. Having performed on stage with superstar comedians
including Russell Peters, he has then expanded his career with
performances in Australia and Singapore. As the Malaysian Book of
Records holder for ‘The First Stand-up Comedy Performance on a
Plane’, he is described as the comic with more spin than a high
speed turbine, with his twist and insights in the daily workings
of the average Joe.
Roberto Pettinau, General Manager of Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur,
said, “Hard Rock Cafe is always about quality entertainment
having hosted various local and international performances in the
past, and have since become a preference amongst performers as the
venue to showcase their skills. We are delighted that The Comedy
Club KL has chosen us as their official venue looking at its high
profile in hosting highly renowned comedians.”
Tickets for the Comedy Club can be purchased for RM50.
