Two seasoned general managers from far-flung GHM
properties are each steering for new appointments on the Island of
the Gods - Bali - this month.
From Andermatt, Switzerland, Alain Bachmann is
moving from his previous role as general manager of the Chedi
Andermatt to The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah, Ubud, one of the most
highly acclaimed properties on Bali.
And from his most recent stint as pre-opening
task force for GHM development projects, Giulio D’Alberto will
take charge of the group’s most recently opened and most expansive
property, The Chedi Sakala.
“We’d like to think that, in today’s world, a
general manager’s career as a hotelier requires cross-exposure in
a myriad of environments and cultures. We are glad for the
opportunity to create that within our management team,” said GHM
President Hans R. Jenni.
In Switzerland, Bachmann ushered the 105-room
Chedi Andermatt onto the world stage as one of 2013’s most
significant debuts, including recognition on Travel + Leisure’s It
List and Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot List.
Prior to his work in Andermatt, the Swiss native
honed his management skills at the Peninsula Chicago, the Mandarin
Oriental Washington D.C. and the Ritz-Carlton Moscow.
D’Alberto joined GHM as director of finance at
an Italian property once operated by GHM, The Chedi Milan. In
2012, he relocated to Asia for work on GHM developments and was
subsequently involved as part of the pre-opening task force at The
Chedi Andermatt.
