Millennium & Copthorne is sponsoring Singapore’s
first Iranian Film Festival.
Taking place from 19 to 22 June 2014,
the festival will feature award-winning shows by highly acclaimed
directors like Reza Mirkarimi and Bahram Tavakoli.
Oscar winning
film “A Separation”, a compelling drama about the dissolution of a
marriage, will kick start the festival at GV Grand, Great World
City. Directed by Asghar Farhadi, it is the first Iranian movie to
receive an Oscar for best foreign language film at the Academy
Awards in 2012.
“We are very honoured to support the first ever
Iranian Film Festival. Through this festival, we hope to share
with Singapore residents a slice of the rich cultural and artistic
cinematography that has captured the world’s attention,” said Mr
Bhupesh Yadav, Chief Business & Administration Officer, Millennium
& Copthorne Hotels.
In the foreword of the festival booklet, Mr
Chew Tai Soo, Singapore’s Ambassador to Iran, explains that the
Iranian Film Festival is a first attempt to introduce to the
Republic a sample of the cinematic richness of Iran.
He said
that Iranian Cinema is among the best there is in the world and
its films have gained accolades and prizes internationally. Mr
Chew is also currently Ambassador-at-Large and concurrently,
Senior Adviser in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
M&C will be
extending discounts to movie goers at its five hotels in Singapore – Grand
Copthorne Waterfront, Orchard Hotel Singapore, M Hotel,
Studio M
and Copthorne King’s Hotel – to encourage expatriates, visitors
and Singapore residents to embrace the Iranian Film Festival.
Each movie ticket stub entitles
the holder to food and beverage discounts
from Millennium & Copthorne Hotels in Singapore. Movie goers just
need to present their ticket stubs to enjoy the discounts.
