Wyndham Hotel Group has signed a franchise
agreement for the first resort in Costa Rica to fly the upscale
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand flag.
The 151-room Wyndham Papagayo Yu Resort, owned
by ASECCSS, is currently under development in Guanacaste, one of
the most popular vacation destinations in Latin America.
The hotel is scheduled to open by the end of
2015, and will be a mixed-use resort affiliated with RCI, part of Wyndham Hotel Group’s sister
company, Wyndham Exchange & Rentals.
Wyndham
Papagayo Yu Resort will be situated along Playa Panamá in
Guanacaste, an area known for pristine beaches, world-class
surfing and lively culture.
The resort is located
just 12.5 miles from Liberia International Airport and will give guests immediate access to the region’s attractions, including Arenal Volcano, Hanging Bridges and numerous national parks, as well as countless sporting and adventure activities, tours and
wildlife.
Resort services and amenities will include two
on-site restaurants, shops, a pool, sports courts, a gym and a
spa. All guest accommodations, comprised of standard and junior
suites, will offer ocean views.
“A key
factor in our growth in Latin America and the Caribbean is further
expanding the Wyndham brand’s resort offerings in key leisure
destinations,” said Paulo Pena, president and managing director of
Latin America for Wyndham Hotel Group. “Guanacaste’s popularity
among international travelers as a top vacation spot makes it an
essential location for us to be present. We’re thrilled to work
with ASECCSS to break ground on Wyndham Papagayo Yu Resort, which
will be a beautiful retreat for travelers and a shining example of
the resort experience the Wyndham brand offers.”
Upon
opening, Wyndham Papagayo Yu Resort will join two city-center
Wyndham properties currently open in Costa Rica, Wyndham Garden
San Jose Escazú and Wyndham San Jose Herradura.
