“This is exciting news for our
customers in Hong Kong, who will be able to enjoy the very latest
technology and more spacious cabins when flying to and from
London,” said Tracy Dedman, British Airways Regional General
Manager, Greater China and the Philippines. “We have been flying
to Hong Kong for nearly 80 years. It is one of the most important
cities that we serve and a favourite destination for many
travellers, so we are delighted to be able to operate our newest
aircraft on the route.”
British Airways has
ordered twelve A380s for delivery by 2016 as part of a £5 billion
(HK$60 billion) investment over five years in new aircraft,
smarter cabins, elegant lounges, and new technologies to make life
more comfortable in the air and on the ground.
The
A380 will be the largest aircraft in British Airways’ fleet,
accommodating 469 customers across four cabins.
Customers in First will be seated at the front of the main deck.
The cabin will offer 14 seats and is evolved from the current First class. Club World business class customers can choose from
44 seats on the main deck, or 53 seats on the upper deck. These
upper deck seats will feature a new 2:3:2 configuration. The 55
World Traveller Plus premium economy seats will be located on the
upper deck while World Traveller economy customers can choose
seats on both the main and upper deck.
British Airways operates two daily non-stop
flights to Hong Kong. The A380 will serve flight BA25 from London
to Hong Kong, and BA26 from Hong Kong to London.
