British Airways has appointed Robert Williams as
its Regional General Manager for South East Asia.
Based in
Singapore, Robert will be responsible for the airline’s commercial
activities across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, as
well as Cambodia and Vietnam.
Before relocating to Singapore to take up this
role, Robert was Alliance Implementation Manager, based at the
airline’s headquarters at Waterside in Heathrow. Prior to that, he
served as Commercial Manager for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.
“Rob is no stranger to the region and I am confident that with his extensive experience in sales and
strategy, we are well-placed to achieve our group’s wider
ambitions in Asia,” said Jamie Cassidy, Area General Manager, Asia
Pacific and Middle East. “For over 70 years, Singapore has been a
crucial part of our network. It is not only a major business and
tourism destination, but it also serves as a stop-off point on our
famed kangaroo route connecting Europe and Australia, and as a gateway to the vibrant and increasingly important economies of
Southeast Asia. The importance of the Lion City as a major aviation hub cannot be understated.”
From 1 April 2013, British Airways’ flights to London
from Singapore will move from London Heathrow’s Terminal 3 to the airline’s
home in Terminal 5.
British Airways’
flights between London and Sydney via Singapore will be served by
the airline’s newest flagship aircraft - the Boeing 777-300ER from
April 2013.
