Cobham has received a five year contract worth A$85 million from Ok Tedi Mining, Limited (OTML), extending the scope of its Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) aviation services to transport workers to the remote mines in Papua New Guinea through to 2019.

Cobham will conduct the flights between the mine site at Tabubil and major centres including Port Moresby, Lae, Madang, Mt Hagen, Goroka and Rabaul, covering in excess of one and half million kilometres a year and over 800 passengers a week.

Commenting on the contract, Cobham Chief Executive Officer, Bob Murphy said, “This extension strengthens our 22-year relationship with OTML and its operation in Papua New Guinea. We will also increase the number of aircraft we operate in the region from two to three Bombardier Dash 8 in early 2014, further enhancing our operations.”
