The Centara Sappaya Design Resort Rayong will
close on 6 May 2013 for renovations and the construction of an
eight-floor building.
The work will add 30 rooms to the resort, along
with a new Spa Cenvaree, a fitness centre, another restaurant
outlet, an 80sqm meeting room that will hold 30 persons in a
classroom configuration, and a remodelled lobby.
The projected date for reopening
is November 2014.
The resort is the smallest of the Centara Hotels
& Resorts properties, having at present only 13 guestrooms.
Located on the beachfront in a quiet and rural part of
Rayong, the ambience of the resort is one of a secluded residence.
“This part of Rayong, with
its beautiful bay, is emerging as a high quality destination in
which the natural surroundings are the main attraction, and where
guests enjoy the seclusion,” said Chris Bailey, senior vice
president for sales and marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts. “We have enjoyed great success with Centara Sappaya,
and feel that the property can be extended without changing the
exclusive residential ambiance. When it is
completed, we are confident that the resort will give us greater
scope to appeal to this very discerning sector of the market,
which in Thailand is growing.”
The eight-floor extension will give the resort a total of 42
rooms, of which 12 will be Superior, 26 will be Deluxe, and
4 will be Spa Deluxe. All room categories will
offer the choice of a king bed or two double beds, a balcony with views across the bay, and each
will feature a three-piece bathroom.
The spa will
consist of two couple treatment rooms and two single treatment
rooms, each with shower and toilet.
The new all-day
restaurant is in addition to the existing beachside snack
restaurant and bar, which will remain, and will have a total of 79
seats, divided between indoors and outdoors.
