Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana, has
launched a new non stop flight from Astana to Bishkek.
The new
service, linking the capitals of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, will
be operated three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The two-hour flight will be performed by Embraer E-190 configured
with nine business and 88 economy seats.
Astana to Bishkek is the airline’s second
service to the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The service between Bishkek
and Almaty was launched November 2008, with more than 50,000
passengers and 70,000 kilos of cargo being carried on the route to date.
“The launch of the new services between Astana and
Bishkek is the latest step in Air Astana’s strategy of regional expansion. The new three weekly services from Astana not only
complement the existing five weekly services from Almaty, but also
significantly provides connections between the two capital cities.
In addition to direct traffic, the schedule of the new flights
have been planned to provide good connections in Astana to
destinations in the Russian Federation, such as Novosibirsk,
Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Omsk, and Moscow. This new flight
also enables passengers to connect from Kyrgyzstan onto Air
Astana’s European network, with destinations including Istanbul
and Frankfurt,” said
Richard Ledger, Director Worldwide Sales, Air Astana.
Air Astana is a full member of the
International Air Transport Association and was the first airline
in Kazakhstan to achieve EU EASA Part 145 aircraft maintenance
certification. The airline is a joint venture between
Kazakhstan’s national wealth fund Samruk Kazyna and BAE Systems,
with respective shares of 51% and 49%.
