Oakwood Appoints Lemuel Herbert as Area Manager, Bangalore

Oakwood has appointed Lemuel Herbert as the new Area Manager for Bangalore, India. Herbert will report to the director of operations for South and Southeast Asia.

In this capacity, Herbert will be responsible for leading and driving operational excellence at Oakwood’s two properties in Bangalore - the Oakwood Premier Prestige Bangalore and the newly opened Oakwood Residence Prestige Whitefield Bangalore.

Herbert has more than 27 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has demonstrated expertise across all hotel operations and management.

Prior to joining Oakwood, he spent 14 years with The Park Hotels in India as an associate vice president and area general manager at The Park Bangalore, The Park Chennai, The Park Pod and was also in charge for various projects for The Park in Chettinadu. During his tenure, Herbert successfully conceptualized and launched the Appejay Institute of Hospitality, The Park Hotels’ Center of Learning.

Herbert started his career with The Oberoi Hotels as a management trainee. During his career, he was also the general manager and principal for ITC Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, India’s premier institute offering a degree program in Hotel Administration.

An active member in the hospitality industry, Herbert has established a strong network of relationships through several professional associations including SKAL Club Bangalore, Bangalore and Chennai Classification Committees, Federation of Hotels and Restaurant Associations and Hotel Association of India. He is also an expert panel member for the Christ College Hotel Management Board of Studies, Bangalore.

Herbert has a Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management from The Oberoi School of Hotel Management in New Delhi and a Bachelor of Science degree from Madras Christian College, Chennai. He has also attended the General Manager’s Programme at Cornell University Ithaca, New York.

Herbert will be based at Oakwood Premier Prestige Bangalore.
