In a study carried out by British Airways,
online check-in has been voted the best travel innovation.
The top five technological innovations, heralded
for greatly improving the traveling experience, were online
check-in, electronic tickets, the option to choose your seat
online, mobile boarding pass and kiosk check-in.
Savvy travelers’ love the option of checking in
online as it gives them more control and saves time. For those catching an early
flight or worried about long queues, nothing beats checking-in
early and heading straight to the gate when you arrive at the
airport.
Commenting on the research findings, Frank Van
Der Post, British Airways’ managing director of brands and
customer experience, said, “It is clear from this study that
customers appreciate the brilliance of self service. Online
check-in is fast, convenient and easy. All our customers can check
in online at ba.com, download the British Airways’ smart phone application, use mobile boarding passes and e-tickets, and select
their seat for no extra charge up to 24 hours before departure.
The study was conducted among
2,000 travelers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland,
Belgium, Netherlands, Romania and Poland, who fly at least two
