Khiri Travel has launched seven
urban and rural walking and cycling trips in Southeast Asia.
Three of the new tours are
designed for lovers of food and architecture. The first of these, the Phnom Penh
walking tour, lets guests sample assorted street stall noodles,
sweetmeats and delicacies including apaing - deep-fried spiders.
The trip ends at a brewery.
The
Phuket Old Town
walking tour brings alive the Chinese clan heritage of the former
tin mining island. The town's Sino- Portuguese architectural
heritage and mansions of tin mining barons are
evocative of a bygone era. The highlight is bijou Soi Romanee
lane where guests can get a haircut in an old barber shop.
The Yangon Heritage Walk explores the city with
one of the largest number colonial buildings in all of
Southeast Asia.
Three new cycling tours are Cycling the Plain of
Jars in Laos, Bicycling Bagan Without Temples
(a trip across the Irrawaddy River to new Bagan) and Ben Tre in
the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.
The seventh new tour is a two day insight into the
Karen mountain people in Huay Khao Lip mountain area, a 90 minute
drive from Chiang Mai, Thailand. The tour includes an overnight village
stay,
bamboo raft ride, forest hike, vegetable gathering
and food preparation.
