The 49th edition of the Farnborough
International Airshow will host Global Intelligent Systems 2014
(GIS2014), a multi-sector conference and exhibition covering the
growing use and demand for intelligent systems in all industries.
At FIA2014 (taking place from 14 -20 July 2014),
GIS2014 will absorb the already successful Unmanned Systems
Showcase and embrace all sectors where smart technologies has been
developed to improve people’s lives.
In advance of FIA 2014, the Global Intelligent
Systems brand will launched in July 2013 at the inaugural GIS2013
conference and exhibition.
Taking place in central London on 16-17
July 2013, the first GIS conference will bring together a
high-profile list of speakers to discuss and debate emerging
technologies, the market drivers and opportunities and adoption by
society.
Created in conjunction with ADS, the premier trade organisation for UK Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space
industries, GIS2013 will also feature a dedicated exhibition and
networking drinks reception.
With Intelligent Systems still very much in its
infancy, the decision to bring the event into the Airshow arena
was seen as a real opportunity for ‘cross-fertilisation’ of
knowledge and collaboration.
Intelligent devices have already been
developed in a number of sectors including healthcare, utilities,
homes and building, automotive and aerospace.
From intelligent
medical devices, smart meters in homes to improve energy
management, applications to improve driver safety in cars to
flexible cockpits and voice and gesture controls in aircraft, the
convergence of device networking, machine-to-machine communication
and the internet means we are moving nearer and nearer to a ‘smart
world’.
Traditionally, the technology and knowledge has
been fragmented across the various sectors, but as we move to a
more connected society there is a growing need for value chains
across sectors to come together. The GIS conference and exhibition
are an opportunity to achieve this and unlock future
commercial potential.
Amanda Stainer,
Commercial Director for Farnborough International Limited said, “The impact of intelligent and
autonomous systems technology on our society promises to be far
reaching and shape the future world in which we live. We are
excited to bring together all expertise in this area in 2013 and
subsequently at FIA in 2014 in what we hope to be the birth of a
new economy – what better location than at Farnborough, the birth
place of British aviation, which has shaped the world we live in
now.”
