Best Western Adds Mactan Island Hotel in Cebu to Portfolio

Best Western has expanded its portfolio of hotels in the Philippines with a new a hotel on the tropical island of Mactan, just off the coast of Cebu.

Best Western Cebu Sand Bar Resort is a 58-room midscale hotel, located in the municipality of Cordova.

The hotel features complimentary internet throughout the hotel, three meeting rooms and 280m² ballroom, a free-form swimming pool, massage services, an entertainment center and a playground.

“We are delighted to welcome Best Western Cebu Sand Bar Resort to our growing family in the Philippines,” said Glenn de Souza, Best Western’s Vice President of International Operations – Asia & the Middle East. “Since we debuted in Cebu late last year with the Best Western Plus Lex Cebu Hotel, we have experienced strong demand, both from within the Philippines and elsewhere. With a strong local economy and stunning natural attractions, the future looks incredibly bright for Cebu, Mactan Island and Best Western.”

Best Western Cebu Sand Bar Resort will become the seventh Best Western hotel in the Philippines, and boosts its nationwide inventory to more than 640 rooms. The company also operates midscale Best Western hotels in Manila, Angeles City and Borocay, and upscale Best Western PLUS hotels in Makati City and Cebu.

In the next two years, Best Western's expansion in the Philippines will continue, with plans for four more hotels, including two more in Cebu. In total the company plans to operate 11 hotels with almost 1,200 rooms by the end of 2014.
