Chelsea Football Club and starCom Management
have opened the Chelsea FC Soccer School Singapore (CFCSS SG) at
Premier Pitch, Turf City.
General Manager, Muhammad Faizal Bin
Saaudi, will oversee the running of the school along with six
coaches who have qualified for the positions after being
evaluated by the Chelsea FC Foundation earlier this year.
Adhering
to the Chelsea FC Foundation’s strict policy of quality
player-coach interaction, CFCSS SG will restrict the intake of
students to 72 for the first school term.
“We are extremely pleased to launch the Chelsea FC
Soccer School Singapore. It is the club’s mission to help the development of Asia football and the Chelsea FC Soccer Schools is
our first step towards achieving that goal. We are also honoured
to have coaches from our Chelsea FC Foundation here in Singapore
to show the students the Chelsea way and we can expect more of
such cooperation between Chelsea FC Foundation and the schools.
This is a clear demonstration of the club’s philosophy of ‘Here to
Play, Here to Stay’,” said Mr Adrian New, Managing Director Asia
Pacific, Chelsea Football Club.
International
Development Manager of Chelsea FC, Ian Woodroffe, said, “Over
the recent months we have been working very closely with the
Singapore Coaches to train them, assess and develop their understanding of the programme’s
philosophies and values.”
To kick-start the Chelsea FC
Foundation programme in Singapore, two three-day camps will be
held at Bedok South Secondary School from 18 – 23 March 2013. During
the camps, students will learn from CFCSS SG coaches as well as
Chelsea FC Foundation coaches in a specially-planned, daily
two-and-a-half hour programme. Over the three days, students will
be taught the same lessons and drills that the Chelsea FC
Foundation is known for and focus on having fun and the importance of succeeding together as a team.
General Manager
of CFCSS SG, Muhammad Faizal Bin Saaudi, said, “I am proud to be a
part of Chelsea FC Soccer Singapore. Football has always been a
big part of my life and it is great to be able to work directly
with the Chelsea FC Foundation. Their professionalism and approach
to teaching the next generation is exceptional and students at the School can be assured that what they learn here in Singapore is
no different from what is taught in England.”
The
school will begin its first term from 6 April to 30 June with
classes held every Saturday for two age groups, 6 – 9 year olds and 10 – 12 year olds.
Classes are expected to be available for youths aged 13 – 17 in
the future.
Rates for the school start from Sin$140 per month or
Sin$400 per term. There is a one-time joining fee of Sin$60 and all
participants will receive a full CFCSS SG kit.
The CFCSSS is also looking to set up another site
in addition to this new one at Turf City in the second half of the
year.
